Royals Boys Lacrosse
Royals offer a range of programs and services designed to foster the development of young lacrosse enthusiasts. These offerings include skill-building clinics and coaching to enhance players' proficiency in the game, along with regular team practices and competitive games to put their skills to the test.
The Royals offer Spring Season, Summer Scrimmages, and Fall Clinics for boys Kindergarten through 8th Grade.
Spring Lacrosse Season
Following assessments, Royal teams play an 8-game spring season, competing against other clubs in the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL). Practices generally start in February. Games run on weekends from the end of March through the weekend before memorial day. Once games begin, teams will generally have 2 weeknight practices in addition to their league games.
Summer Lacrosse
PWLC provides free weekly "pick-up" scrimmages from June through mid July. During the summer, players "Graduate" to their next spring's age group, and are grouped by the NVYLL age bracket which they will play in during the next Spring season. Sessions normally consist of 10-15 minutes of coach-led instruction, followed by 45-50 minutes of scrimmages. Scrimmages require full pads & gear.
Fall Clinics
Fall Lacrosse consists of weekly Sunday skills clinics which run from early September through the end of October. Players are grouped by the NVYLL age bracket which they will play in during the next Spring season. 8U - 14U players wear full pads & gear, while Little Scooper players are only required to bring a stick, with gloves being optional.
Age Groups
Little Scoopers
Intended for new players who want to learn the basic skills of lacrosse but not compete in the regular season. They would focus on passing, shooting, scooping ground balls. There are no games scheduled against other teams. Little Scoopers may scrimmage or run drills that simulate game play.
- The players do not need protective equipment like the regular teams. I foam nerf ball is used instead of a solid rubber ball. The group will meet once a week for instruction. Contact is minimal and there is no checking allowed.
U8
U8 teams will practice 2-3 times a week in full protective gear (Helmet, gloves, elbow pads & should pads). Body checks are not allowed and focus on checking the other players' stick. During the regular season there are 8 regular games scheduled, no score is kept. Typically, there is one every Saturday. The games will be against other teams who are part of the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL). Games start at the end of March and finish by May. U8 is played on a modified field with the focus on learning the game and skill progression.

U10

The games will be against other teams who are part of the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League (NVYLL). Games start at the end of March and finish by May.
