An introductory guide for parents who are relatively new to the game of lacrosse. Information ranges from game rules to equipment needs that will help you in your understanding of the sport. Please check out the US Lacrosse parents' guide and lacrosse rules.

Age and League Information
Equipment
- Mouthguard
- Helmets [helmets must be National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE) approved]
- Protective gloves
- Shoulder pads
- Arm pads
- Rib pads (optional, but strongly recommended especially for youth players)
- Protective athletic supporters and cups (optional but strongly recommended)
- Sneakers or cleats
- Lacrosse stick
- Regulation "short sticks" (used by attackmen or mid-fielders) must be between 40 and 42 inches long (measured from the bottom of the shaft to the top of the head).
- Regulation "long sticks" (used by defensemen) must be between 52 and 72 inches.
- The shaft may be constructed of wood, metal or synthetic material and must have a cap covering the bottom end .
- The head may be constructed of wood, metal or synthetic material shaped in a roughly triangular or slightly hour-glass shape, and has a pocket made of gut, rawhide, linen, or synthetic material to hold the ball. The head of the stick must be 6½ to 10 inches wide.
- The pocket of the stick shall be deemed illegal if the top surface of a lacrosse ball, when placed in the head of the stick, is below the bottom edge of the side wall.

Equipment
Girls equipment requirements are very minimal, and with some bargain shopping can be purchased for a reasonable price. The girls club also offers loaner goggles and sticks to any new players "trying out" the sport at our Summer and Fall clinics. These items are also available to families who are financially challenged to help offset the cost of the Spring season. For information about loaner items, contact the Girls Commissioner.

- Cleats (Lacrosse or Soccer)
- Seasonal athletic attire (ie: Leggings/underarmor for cold weather months, and light weight wicking for hot weather months).

- Goalkeeper's stick
- A regulation goalkeeper's stick must be between 40 and 72 inches long (measured from the bottom of the shaft to the top of the head).
- The stick must be between 10 and 12 inches wide (measured at its widest point).
